Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Millwright/Plumber is responsible for installing, assembling, and, when necessary, dismantling machinery, conveyor systems, pulleys, mechanical clutches, gear boxes, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems. The Millwright will transport and locate machines and equipment to the desired location according to floor plans, or as directed using forklifts, hoists, winches, cranes, and other equipment. Assemble machines or equipment from their component parts. The Millwright must understand how a machine functions to assemble and disassemble it properly. This may involve knowledge of electronics, pneumatics, and computer systems. The Millwright will use complex instruction books that detail the assembly of the machinery and use tools such as levels, welding machines, and hydraulic torque wrenches. The Millwright will also use micrometers and other precision measuring devices to achieve the extreme tolerances required. On large projects, the use of cranes is common. Work requires practical skill and knowledge and journey-level skill as a millwright. Candidate must be able to perform incidental tasks as required to complete the larger task.

  • Maintenance Management System (CMMS/Maximo).
  • Trouble Shooting expertise Root Cause Analysis
  • Inspect, repair, modify and install Mechanical equipment including conveyors, doors, fans, pumps, machinery, levelers, hydraulic equipment, mechanical equipment.
  • Install, align, take apart and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces, and generators according to layout plans using hand and power tools
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices, such as cranes, jacks, and tractors, to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up, and repair of machinery
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and find irregularities and malfunctions
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and programmable logic controls
  • Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts
  • Operate machine tools, such as lathes and grinders, to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance, or set-up of machinery
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery
  • Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation by using hand and power tools and welding equipment
  • Research and specify repair parts from manuals and computer sources

Qualifications

BASELINE QUALIFICATIONS: Possess a current Millwright Journeymen's Card.

  • State of Michigan Millwright Card or equal experience
  • Confined Space Certified
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good eyesight, hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good physical health, strength, and stamina
  • Ability to work alone and as a member of a team.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to read drawings and blueprints and interpret specifications
  • Knowledge of safe operating procedures
  • Ability to understand and apply industry standards for installation, repairs, and safety
  • Ability to operate power tools and equipment
  • Ability to operate computer-based equipment
  • Familiarity with computerized IWMS/CMMS work order process
